Step 1: Know Your Sport 🏐

Sport Shoe Type Needed
Olympic Weightlifting Weightlifting shoe (elevated heel)
Powerlifting — Squat Weightlifting shoe
Powerlifting — Deadlift Deadlift shoe (flat sole)
CrossFit Weightlifting shoe for heavy days
Bodybuilding / Hypertrophy Weightlifting shoe for leg day
General Strength Training Weightlifting shoe covers most needs

Step 2: Assess Your Ankle Mobility 🦵

The Wall Test: Stand facing a wall, toes 5cm from the wall. Try to touch your knee to the wall without your heel lifting. If you can't, your ankle mobility is limiting your squat depth.

  • Good mobility → Lower heel (0.6”–0.75”)
  • Average mobility → Mid heel (0.75”–1”)
  • Limited mobility → Higher heel (1”–1.5”)

Step 3: Choose Your Heel Height 📏

Step 4: Pick Your Upper Material 🧵

Step 5: Get the Right Fit 📍

  • Snug across the midfoot — no lateral movement
  • Secure at the heel — no heel lift during the squat
  • When in doubt, size up — especially for competition
  • All Castiron Lift shoes available up to EU 48

Step 6: Set Your Budget 💰
