01. Sizing & Fit

+ How do I find my correct Castiron Ride size?

Measure your foot length in centimetres and match to our size chart. Motorcycle footwear should fit snug but not tight — your heel should be locked in with no lift, and toes should have a small amount of room. → Castiron Ride Sizing Guide

+ Do Castiron Ride shoes run true to size?

Yes — designed to run true to street shoe size. If you’re between sizes, go up. Motorcycle footwear should never be sized down — unlike performance sports shoes, comfort and control over the pegs matters more than a precision fit.

+ What if I have wide feet?

Our motorcycle sneaker last is designed with a wider toe box than most performance shoes. If you have particularly wide feet, size up half a size for comfort on longer rides.

+ What if I have narrow feet?

The BOA dial closure system on select models allows micro-adjustment for a more precise, secure fit across the instep — ideal for narrower foot shapes.

+ What EU sizes do Castiron Ride shoes come in?

Our range covers EU 38–48. If your size is not listed, contact us at support@castironlift.com and we’ll advise on availability.

+ Can I wear thick socks with motorcycle footwear?

Yes — unlike climbing shoes, motorcycle footwear is sized to accommodate a standard or slightly thicker sock. We recommend a mid-weight riding sock for comfort and moisture management on longer rides.

02. Motorcycle Sneakers vs Moto Boots

+ What’s the difference between a motorcycle sneaker and a moto boot?

Motorcycle sneakers offer a low-profile, street-ready look with CE-rated protection built in — ankle cups, shift pads, and reinforced toe boxes. Moto boots provide higher ankle coverage and are better suited to sport touring, track, and off-road use. → Motorcycle Sneakers vs Moto Boots — Complete Comparison

+ Are motorcycle sneakers as safe as moto boots?

CE-rated motorcycle sneakers provide certified protection for urban and commuter riding. For track, sport touring, or off-road use, taller boots with additional ankle and shin coverage are recommended. Castiron Ride sneakers are CE certified — not a fashion product.

+ Which is better for urban commuting — sneakers or boots?

Motorcycle sneakers. They’re comfortable to walk in off the bike, look like regular footwear, and provide CE-rated protection for the stop-start demands of city riding. → Urban Commuter Guide

+ Which is better for sport touring or track days?

Moto boots. Higher ankle coverage, stiffer construction, and greater impact protection make boots the right choice for higher-speed riding and track environments.

+ Can I wear Castiron Ride sneakers for long-distance touring?

Yes for moderate touring — our sneakers are built for all-day comfort. For multi-day adventure touring on mixed terrain, a taller boot with additional coverage is recommended.

03. CE Certification & Safety

+ What does CE certified mean for motorcycle footwear?

CE certification means the footwear has been independently tested and meets the European safety standard EN 13634 for motorcycle boots. It covers ankle protection, sole penetration resistance, and abrasion resistance. CE-rated footwear is a legal requirement in some European countries.

+ What CE level are Castiron Ride shoes?

Castiron Ride footwear is CE certified to EN 13634. Specific level details (Level 1 / Level 2) are listed on each product page. → View All Ride Products

+ Is CE certification required for motorcycle footwear in Europe?

Requirements vary by country. Several EU member states and the UK recommend or require CE-rated PPE for motorcycle riders. Regardless of legal requirement, CE certification is the clearest indicator that footwear has been independently tested for rider protection.

+ Do Castiron Ride shoes meet UK motorcycle footwear standards?

Yes — our footwear is CE certified to EN 13634, which is recognised in the UK post-Brexit as the applicable standard for motorcycle protective footwear.

+ What protection does CE EN 13634 cover?

EN 13634 tests for: ankle protection (resistance to inversion/eversion), sole penetration resistance, abrasion resistance of the upper, and seam strength. Level 2 provides higher performance than Level 1 across all criteria.

04. Ankle Protection & Construction

+ How does ankle protection work in motorcycle sneakers?

Castiron Ride sneakers feature a reinforced ankle cup built into the upper — a rigid or semi-rigid insert that resists inversion and eversion forces in a crash. This is tested as part of CE EN 13634 certification. → Ankle Protection in Detail

+ What is a shift pad and why does it matter?

A shift pad is a reinforced zone on the upper of the left shoe, protecting against wear from the gear lever. Without a shift pad, regular footwear degrades rapidly at this contact point. All Castiron Ride models include a durable shift pad zone. → Shift Pad Guide

+ What is a heel counter and why is it important?

A heel counter is a stiffened insert at the rear of the shoe that locks the heel in place and resists compression in a rear impact. It also improves control on the pegs by preventing heel movement during riding.

+ Is the toe box reinforced?

Yes — all Castiron Ride models feature a reinforced toe box that resists compression and abrasion. This protects the forefoot in frontal impacts and during abrasion events.

+ How does the upper construction affect protection?

The upper material and seam construction are tested for abrasion resistance under EN 13634. Higher abrasion resistance means the shoe holds together longer in a slide, keeping protection in place when it matters most.

05. Outsole & Peg Grip

+ What outsole does Castiron Ride use?

Our GAE-PRO outsole is engineered specifically for motorcycle use — oil-resistant rubber with a peg-grip optimised tread pattern. It provides secure contact on footpegs in wet and dry conditions while remaining walkable off the bike. → Outsole Technology Guide

+ Why does peg grip matter?

Secure contact between your sole and the footpeg is critical for bike control — especially during cornering, braking, and low-speed manoeuvring. A sole that slips on the peg reduces control and increases fatigue on longer rides.

+ Is the outsole oil resistant?

Yes — the GAE-PRO outsole compound is oil resistant, which matters in garage environments, fuel spills, and wet urban riding conditions where oil contamination on road surfaces is common.

+ How long does the outsole last?

Depends on riding frequency and surface. The GAE-PRO compound is designed for durability — expect significantly longer life than standard rubber soles. Walking on abrasive surfaces off the bike will accelerate wear.

06. Closure Systems

+ What closure systems do Castiron Ride shoes use?

Depending on model: BOA dial system, velcro ankle strap, and front zip entry. Each closure serves a different purpose — BOA for micro-adjustable fit, velcro for ankle security, zip for quick entry. → Closure Systems Compared

+ What is the BOA dial system?

BOA is a precision lacing system using a dial and stainless steel lace to apply even, micro-adjustable tension across the foot. It provides a more consistent fit than traditional laces and is faster to adjust with gloves on.

+ Is the velcro ankle strap necessary?

Yes — the ankle strap provides additional security at the ankle, preventing the shoe from being pulled off in a crash and adding a layer of ankle support beyond the internal cup.

+ Can I ride with the zip open?

No — always ride with all closures fully secured. Open closures reduce protection and can catch on controls or pegs.

07. Riding Styles & Use Cases

+ What type of rider is Castiron Ride designed for?

Urban commuters, café racer riders, and everyday street riders who want CE-rated protection without sacrificing style or walkability off the bike. → Find Your Model — Rider Decision Guide

+ Are Castiron Ride shoes suitable for café racer and scrambler riding?

Yes — the low-profile aesthetic and CE-rated construction make them well suited to café racer, scrambler, and naked bike riding styles where a clean, minimal look is part of the culture.

+ Can I use Castiron Ride shoes for track days?

No — track days require dedicated track boots with higher ankle coverage, additional armour, and greater impact protection. Castiron Ride is designed for street and urban use.

+ Are they suitable for pillion passengers?

Yes — CE-rated motorcycle footwear is recommended for pillion passengers as well as riders. Passengers are exposed to the same crash risks as the rider.

+ Can I walk comfortably in Castiron Ride shoes off the bike?

Yes — walkability is a core design requirement. The GAE-PRO outsole and low-profile construction mean you can walk normally in urban environments without the clunky gait of traditional moto boots.

08. Brand & Products

+ What is Castiron Ride?
